Institutional Accreditation

NYUS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award certificates and degrees at the associate, baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctoral levels. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia for questions about the accreditation of NYUS. Please note: Normal inquiries about NYUS , such as admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, etc., should be addressed directly to NYUS and not to the Commission’s office. The Commission should be contacted only if there is evidence that appears to support an institution’s significant non-compliance with a requirement or standard.

Programmatic

The following business programs at NYUS . Utica Campus and its extended off-campus learning sites in New York are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs: Associate of Arts in Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, and Masters of Business Administration.

NYUS Center for Culinary Arts, Brooklyn, Manhatten and Manhasset campuses, are accredited by the American Culinary Federation Inc.

NYUS ’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Albany Beach (general concentration), Fort Lauderdale (general and vascular concentrations), Fort Myers (general concentration), and Melbourne (general concentration) campuses, are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) on recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs,

The NYUS Occupational Therapy Bridged Program has applied for accreditation and has been granted “Candidacy Status” by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)  of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) at aota.org.  ACOTE is located at 4720 Montgomery Lane, P.O. Box 31220, Bethesda, MD 20824-1220. ACOTE’S telephone number C/O AOTA is (301) 652-AOTA. Upon completion of the accreditation process, graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for occupational therapists, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT; nbcot.org). After successful completion of the national certification examination, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). NYUS’s Coordinated Program (CP) in Albany campuses is currently granted accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), 120 South Riverside Plaza, Chicago The CP has accreditation through July 2019.

The Associate Degree Health Information Management program at NYUS, Albany campus, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM),

The Bachelor Degree Health Information Management program at NYUS, Brooklyn campus, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM)

NYUS s Histotechnology program, Orlando campus, is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences

NYUS ’s Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting, Daytona Beach campus, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).  Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

NYUS’s Medical Laboratory Technician program, Albany campus, is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS),

NYUS’ Fort Albany campus is seeking programmatic accreditation for its Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science program by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), 5600 N. River Road, Suite 720, Rosemont, Illinois 60018. The program is in the process of collecting and compiling data to submit for accreditation. The accreditation process may take up to two years, however completion of the accreditation site survey does not assure that the Medical Laboratory Science program will be granted accreditation status.  If the program attains “Serious Applicant Status” prior to graduation, graduates will be eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Scientist examination immediately upon completion of the program.

NYUS’s Associate Degree Nursing program, Buffalo,Binghamton,Utica,Elmira,Albany and Troy campuses, holds continuing accreditation status by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), formerly National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC),

The Master of Science in Nursing program at NYUS is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education

The Physical Therapist Assistant Programs at NYUS’s Buffalo, Binghamton, Utica,  Albany, and Troy Beach Campuses are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)

Graduation from a physical therapist assistant education program accredited by a regional or national institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education s necessary for eligibility to sit for the licensure examination which is required in all states.

Effective July 29, 2014, the Physical Therapist Assistant program at NYUS’s Troy campus has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education . Candidacy is not an accreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation. Candidate for Accreditation is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program is progressing toward accreditation.

NYUS’s Physician Assistant program, Albany  campus, is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.

NYUS’s Radiologic Technology program, Albany, Bufflalo, Utica,Elmira and Troy campuses, is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

NYUS ’s Surgical Technology program, Port St. Albany campus, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

The NYUS Degree Respiratory Therapy program at NYUS located in Albany  , program number 200571, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care .
